Auto Immune Summit: Notes from Jeffrey Smith: Say NO to GMO

Weeks ago we took part in watching the AutoImmune Summit hosted by Dr. Amy Myers. This summit is still available for purchase to those who may be interested. As a precursor, I am no doctor, and this series of blog posts is coming from the PAGES and pages of notes that we took during the summit. We just wanted to share the important tidbits we took away from the summit with people who may have missed out! This information came from Jeffrey Smith from the Institute of Responsible Technology.

*In our world now, there are 9 major crops that have massive amounts of GMOs. ¾ of food in grocery store has been “touched” by GMOs- whether in soil, or in plant production.
*ORGANIC does NOT always mean GMO FREE!!! (IGF1- milk toxin)
*GMOs contribute to autoimmune diseases. It has also been proven to affect and cause heart conditions, Gastrointestinal issues, allergies, infertility, autism, Parkinson’s disease, and generally worsens preexisting issues.
*Dangers of Antibiotics: destroy walls of intestines and stomach lining, causing irritation, swelling and other issues. This irritation, toxic gas release, cause distress in intestine, and can cause leaky gut.
*Undigested food proteins (like GMOs, wheat/gluten) sends the immune system into panic, thusly causing the body to attack the wrong thing—itself.
*The use of “Round Up” suppresses digestive enzymes, wreaking havoc in the gut. Round Up, used most by Monsanto, has been linked to Celiac disease, plus a myriad of other autoimmune issues. WATER, although obviously needed for crop growth, spreads the sprayed Round Up into surrounding land, dirt, and water sources- thusly polluting even more areas and food supplies.
*Most motivated groups of people attempting to cut and monitor GMOs or other harmful items from their diets include: moms, pet owners, healthcare workers, faith based folks, and the chronically ill and sick-suffering people of the world.
*Oils not recommended to avoid gut issues: extra virgin olive oil, soy, canola, and sunflower seed. These are not regulated.
*Avoid: Mexican Food, Chinese food, grains, legumes, GMOs, and gluten.
*What Should I eat? Organic, grass fed meats, wild game, wild caught fish, and organic milk
Mr. Smith’s book, Seeds of Deception, was also an incredibly educational and eye opening read. I would suggest it to anyone sorting out how they should be eating, and how they feel about GMOs.
Note from Blog: Again, I am no doctor, only a long paged note taker, and severe autoimmune sufferer. I have altered my diet to avoid gluten, and created a cook book filled with delicious gluten free recipes. While going gluten free does not work for everything, in my case, it has helped with so much. These reasons, and many more, are why we are sharing these tips, tricks, and tidbits.
