Justice for Nancy: 2017 Charity Drive and Updates

Wow! What an exhausting and successful six months it was! From January to June of 2017, my time was spent on fundraising, organizing, planning, plotting and hoping that we would reach our goals, and Justice for Nancy would be able to fund a huge food pack for starving children around the globe. On June 17th, we managed to successfully do just that. Justice for Nancy and Kid’s Against Hunger Fort Wayne packed 23,760 meals for starving children! In those six months, we managed to raise thousands of dollars! This made all that hard work, blood, sweat and (too many) tears worth it!

We are so incredibly grateful to those who donated to our auction from your businesses, and those who donated to our garage sale, too! Those who helped out by having a bake sale, and those who donated baked goods to help out in that way. To the volunteers who showed up to help pack these meals, and the community who donated their time. Without your help, donations, time, and support… we never would have been able to make this happen! To each of you, I personally thank you, and will absolutely back your causes.

We learned a lot during this time; most of which has helped us make decisions about our future endeavors. This was, most likely, our biggest event we will do. Being that we ended up doing most of the leg work alone, as those who were to be a part of this were too busy, my children and I just cannot take on a load like this again. Holy heavy! We will continue to work with our local food banks, pantry’s and shelters, and continue to do volunteer work in honor of my Grandma, her legacy, and Justice for Nancy.

After the event, we headed to the park to release peace dove balloons. During that time, I couldn’t help but think of just what she would’ve said to me after all of this, and being able to feed this many people. The “proud” would’ve been beaming from her smirk, and her head would be lightly sharking back and forth; in disbelief. She would use my real first name, and the length of it; no shortened version as I prefer. While I am grateful to all for their help, I am most grateful to my Grandmothers, and those who have taught me that the only way to make a difference, is to be the difference.
