The Autoimmune Summit, Lifestyle Choices, and Healthy Eating
If you follow my pages (yes, I know there seems to be so many!) you probably know that I spent the past few weeks deep in the Autoimmune Summit. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a giant online session with the top doctors, nutritionists, functional medicine doctors, and all sorts of people involved in autoimmune EVERYTHING, every day. Why am I spending time on this at all? Because I have too many things wrong with me not to, that’s why. I have a child that mimics me. I don’t want to feel like shit forever, I don’t want my child to have a “sick life,” and neither should you! I am NOT A DOCTOR, so please read these posts in this category with the understanding that I’ve watched, read about, verified, then typed what I’m typing. I do, however, completely trust the doctors in this summit, and would give my left HAND to get to spend a few days with them. If you think something you read in my blog might work for you, please consult your own doctor before beginning anything major. Use that big brain. Thanks.
Autoimmune disease are happening everywhere now, sometimes with little or no reason. Many people seek out their primary care physicians for help, only to find that they know nothing about what’s going on, and almost dig their heels in to find out the real reasons why this is happening. Did you know that almost all of the autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases, and the like are linked to the FOOD you eat??
Isn’t it difficult to swallow that the box of macaroni and cheese you just fed yourself and kids is loaded with toxins, which set the body’s inflammatory defense off? How about that “gluten free bread”? Those grains in there have the same inflammatory properties. Ice cream. Cheese. (Okay, I’ll stop.) Setting this type of reaction off with no real threat makes your entire body work harder, throwing it into a self-attack mode to “kill the threat.” Too bad your body just doesn’t work perfectly, and can’t differentiate that gluten molecule from your actual tissues. Your body just isn’t quite sure of what to do with certain inflammatory food molecules, and attacks the entire thing. Did you know the inflammation done by eating things such as gluten, dairy, and soy can causes permanent damage to your internal organs LONG before you’ll ever see the signs? Or get the symptoms??
Did you know that NO HUMAN can digest gluten completely? Some people just have less of a reaction than others, but gluten in general causes internal inflammation!
So much of what we choose to do in our life really does affect our tomorrow. It’s something that’s easily overlooked, or not taken the proper amount of time to try to work through. Many people don’t even know the power of food, and that’s where I’m hoping to help! I’ll be blogging about some of the tips, tricks, and pointers that the fabulous docs discussed in the Autoimmune Summit. I just can’t let some of these vital tidbits go, as some of us have waited years for the answers we got sitting through this seminar!
