The High’s and Low’s of Author Takeovers
Over the next few weeks, I have a few different takeovers lined up on a myriad of “types” of Facebook pages. “Takeovers” happen when one person, usually an admin, allows another person (like me, an indie author) to take control of their entire Facebook page or group or event for a preset amount of time. In that amount of time, the temporary post-er (in this case, ME) can post about themselves, their books and creations, likes & dislikes, giveaways, and whatever else. Not only do takeover’s help the person who is taking over get some face-time and new marketing platform, it also helps drive traffic to the blog or Facebook page/event that they are posting on. So, really it’s a win-win scenario for all involved.
Except when Facebook decides to poo all over our fun and hide all the posts…
That’s the hard part about takeovers… Sometimes no one shows up, and sometimes hundreds show up! I prefer the hundreds to the crickets any day, but you’ve got to take each experience in stride. Facebook has this special way of hiding certain posts from people, changing the way feeds scroll midafternoon, and then changing it all back again in the evening. And those giveaway posts? Yeah, those seem to be hidden the most. Really sucks, but there’s not much else we can do. Sigh.
I LOVE meeting new friends and readers through takeovers. If people stick around to participate, they truly want to be there, and those are the BEST kind of people to meet! And the wide-spread range of reach- amazing! I love being able to chat with people one state over, and at the same time, four countries across the Pacific! I often wish I had more time to invest in attending takeovers!
What can you expect from my takeovers? You’ll get to know me a little and probably for the first time, play a few games, learn about my series, novels, and businesses, and maybe win an e-book or an e-cook book!
Maybe I’ll see you at one of these summer takeovers! Check my Facebook page for the details on when & where!
OH, #GatedSecrets is more than half-way through edits! Which is good….because I think I was just bit by the writing bug! YAY!
